When your child has a new toy, do you show them how to work it or let them figure it out?

I let them figure it out, its their toy. My husband, on the other hand has to get down on the floor with them, figure it out for himself, and teach them until they get it. I can see it work but at first the kid wants their toy, and I find it immature to keep a kids toy away from them until u figure it out.
